Change is all around us, now and always
’tis nature’s season of change…..
The Only Constant in Life is Change
Once again, we’ve entered another fall season with ‘change’ happening all around us. Higher temps and beach days behind us, our days getting shorter and our schedules adjusting. Soon, we’ll be making plans for the holidays! Honoring change this year feels especially relevant, given our political calendar, and all that we may be holding onto and hoping for in the coming months. I’m finding that in my own response to change, it’s important for me to acknowledge that change is always around the corner, in fact, “the only constant in life is change”. Remembering this, and paying attention to the changes around me, I may then use perspective to see the pervasive nature of change that affects us all. At times, change may be accompanied by uncertainty or resistance, but given its perpetual nature, it could be something we more skillfully approach with openness.
As Sheryl Sandberg so beautifully articulates,
“So maybe, just as we pull out the sweaters and tuck away our sandals, we can approach change with an openness that softens our entry to a new experience in our own lives.”

Here’s an activity I am using to work on softening resistance and turning instead towards what’s possible. I invite you to try it with me! Using the “Five Minute Journal” as a guide, shifting the wording ever so slightly to these daily prompts:
Morning
My current mood is:
1.)…2.)…3)…
What does my heart/core/deepest self needs most?

Evening
What did I notice today that may influence my tomorrow?
